Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to identify the mission architecture required to perform a human exploration mission to Mars using a minimum amount of resources. This mission will send three crew members to the surface of Mars for a maximum surface stay of 600 days. The space transportation system analysis for the required delta velocities, parking orbits, aerocapture, entry, and landing analysis are described. Top level functional flow block diagrams will describe the functional analysis of this mission. System conceptual designs will not the presented.
