Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers IV

Abstract:

Guideway curvature creates design challenges unique to roped people mover systems. These challenges include: Positioning large numbers of rope support sheaves along the guideway to support the rope and to bend it around the curves; achieving high reliability and long life of the sheave liners; and knowing and coping with the friction force of complicated roping systems. This paper discusses ways to overcome these challenges.
