by L. David Shen, State Univ of Florida at Miami, Miami, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers IV

Abstract:

In 1986, Miami became the first city in the United States to have an integrated Automated People Mover (APM) - Rapid Rail Transit (RRT) multi-modal system. In early 1992, a plan had been prepared to create a multi-modal transportation center at Miami International Airport (MIA). The purpose of this paper is to present this exciting design concept. It is hoped that this paper will help other cities who are contemplating similar systems in the coming years.
