Abstract:

The specifications and features of an Intermodal Transit Station simulation model are discussed, including train schedule data base preparation, ticketing and baggage claim processing, boarding and alighting activity, and passage from public to paid areas through controlled process points. A description is given of a working computer simulation specifically designed to model the pedestrian flows through the curbfronts, corridors, concessions, elevators/escalators and fare collection turnstiles of an example intermodal transit station.
