Active Guideway Systems

by Claude Soulas, INRETS, Arcueil, France,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers IV

Abstract:

Many automated people movers which have been developed or studied in France or in other countries belong to the category of active guideway systems. This paper describes characteristics and the most important solutions which have been selected for these systems (traction by means of cables, linear motors and so on...). It is then possible to give indications on the various systems of this family. One system, the SK is now well known because of the choice of Roissy/Charles de Gaulle (Paris-Airport) but there are other examples.
