Abstract:

A new three-dimensional technique for modeling the micro-structure of porous media is proposed. On the basis of measurements of characteristics made using thin sections of porous media on an image analyzer, the aim is to simulate, a porous medium which is geometrically realistic and fully determined. The mean value and the second moment of the pore-space phase function are measured on thin sections. This information is useful to reconstruct an artificial media with the same average geometrical properties. Such a technique opens the way to further studies of the porous medium.
