A New Type of Concrete Trapezoid Dam

A new type of 128.0 m height concrete trapezoid dam (t-d) has been built for the Wunana Town Hydroelectric Power Station (WTHPS). The paper presents its optimum section design, several provisions for the monoliths on the river bank and rectifying the effect of longitudinal joints on the stresses at the dam heel, and a lot of the structural model tests and stress analyses by the finite element method (f-m), on which the design is based.
