Abstract:

Uncertainties in a hydrologic model give rise to uncertainty in model outputs which, in turn, can be used for reliability-based design and /or evaluation of hydraulic structures. This paper assessed uncertainties associated with the well-known unit hydrograph (UH) model and incorporate them into the evaluation of overtopping risk and other related measures of a flood detention reservoir. Constrained simulation is employ-ed so that the generated UHs satisfy not only their statistical properties but also its physical definition.
