Advanced HEC-2 Modeling on Forester Creek

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

The goal of this paper is to share information regarding advanced modelling techniques used to solve complex hydraulic flow issues using the HEC-2 Computer Model (1990). There are several hydraulically significant aspects of this otherwise routine HEC-2 study. The problems encountered included: split flow, both returning and non-returning to the main channel stem as well as changing flow regimes in the channel. The channel's flow regime changed from supercritical at the start of the study to subcritical flow within the first several cross sections; however, the flow regime remained subcritical for the remainder of the reach length.
