Abstract:

The proposed analysis, may be regarded as a bridge between the practical sample analysis and the optimization model development. From the analysis and observation of water distribution problems, a critical path of water supply, which is the key route to meet the applied demands at least energy cost, can be found; then the pattern of water distribution is uniquely defined. Several examples have been selected from the published literature to demonstrate the differences between the previous methods and the critical path method. Finally, a complex network problem is presented to show the advantages of the critical path method.
