Hydraulic Analysis of the McCook Outlet Manifold

Abstract:

A 1:40-scale model of the proposed McCook Outlet Manifold was tested at the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES). Subsequently, flow conditions in the manifold were calculated using the manifold evaluation program `MANIFLO'. Hydraulic coefficients for the manifold ports were unknown, so loss coefficients determined from potential flow theory were adjusted such that the pressures computed by MANIFLO when run at laboratory scale, matched the pressures measured in the laboratory model. MANIFLO was then run at prototype scale with these adjusted coefficients to compute discharges and pressures in the prototype manifold.
