Abstract:

The information presented herein has barely dented the surface of the needs for hydraulic research, and of the methods required to obtain funding for that research. The responses and reports summarized herein clearly demonstrate concerns for advancing basic and applied understanding in a number of technical areas. Just as clearly, there is a need to improve public perception of hydraulic engineering, and to do a more energetic job of formally educating children and adults regarding the challenges of this engineering profession.
