Testing Outlet Works Gates and Valves at USBR Dams Under Unbalanced Head Conditions: Close-coupled Guard and Regulating Gates at Yellowtail and Flaming Gorge Dam

by Ernie Bachman, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Boise, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Management of Irrigation and Drainage Systems: Integrated Perspectives

Abstract:

Part of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) program for unbalanced testing of outlet works guard gates and valves at its dams involves testing facilities with 'close-coupled' guard and regulating gates or valves. The types of gates and valves present in these facilities varies, as do the problems encountered in executing unbalanced tests. One such facility is examined and the unbalanced tests, results, and related problems are discussed, and comparisons made with other similar facilities.
