Abstract:

The calibration of rainfall-runoff models in hydrology has not yet reached a satisfactory solution, using either manual or automatic procedures. This paper introduces a simple conceptual technique that executes a global search for the best set of parameters and minimizes the troubles of the calibration process. The SMAP model, in its daily version and applied in the southern part of the State of Sao Paulo, is used to test the technique.
