Abstract:

When comparing stormwater infiltration with other methods for stormwater drainage an appropriate design procedure is necessary. The method proposed for future Danish guidelines is based on both rainfall extreme statistics (design return period) and a simplified description of the flow of water in soil (hydraulic conductivity) and rests on well-known principles for the design of detention structures. The described method which utilizes simple design diagrams is explained in detail and the most important errors and uncertainties are discussed.
