Abstract:

Theory of transformation of coast and shelf of the ancient and modern seas by waves is presented. It allows to work out a scheme of adjoining land and shelf evolution on the basis of basin level changes and abrasive paleoprocesses. Correspondence of theoretical profiles to the real relief of coast and shelf serves as a criterion for the scheme's representativity. Evolution scheme of a site on the Black Sea coast and shelf in Pliocene-Pleistocene is given.
