Part of: Coastal Engineering Considerations in Coastal Zone Management

Abstract:

This paper presents a brief synopsis of the physical setting and geomorphology of the Oman coast, emphasizing the areas with the most dramatic erosional/depositional eyeless. Eighty-three survey sites along the entire coast were established to determine beach-profile morphology and beach sediment characteristics. Mapping of the geomorphology of the coast was completed with the aid of vertical and oblique aerial photographs, commercial overflights and ground surveys. Factors and processes combining to produce the coastal configuration of Oman are discussed.
