Abstract:

This work presents a general characterization of a portion of the coastline of the State of Rio de Janeiro, based on observations made between 1988 and 1992, as part of Littoral Rio project. Current coastal engineering problems are identified and possible causes are discussed. Sediment transported is computed using Littoral Drift Roses. Management actions and a monitoring program is suggested.
