Abstract:

Due to the large amount of information required to describe the components of infrastructure, automated tools are required to speed data collection and access to this information. This paper describes the use of automation to speed data collection and to enhance the value of the inventory/assessment information on projects. Each project involved the use of preprogrammed hand held computers to collect the field data. This data was then loaded by wire into an office database for analysis and reporting.
