Abstract: This paper summarizes recent research in various algorithms for detection of pavement cracks. The most successful algorithms use a digital filter to obtain an approximation of the principal curvature at each point in the image. These algorithms will eventually be used to compute the pavement condition index specified in USACERL'S AutoPAVER.
