Abstract: The rive, every step of the rive grown and even burst of arch dam are regarded as sequence random events. Making use of the probability theory and the achievement of elastic, elastic-plastic and plastic analysis of elements the mechanical model of arch dam in the load distribution-stiffness method is set up to analyze internal forces and stresses of arch dam. Making use of the combined yield criterion, the state function and the state equation of safety analysis of arch dam are set up to carry out the calculation of the pursuit of rive and the probability of every event mentioned above. Thus the probability of rive, the conditional probabilities of rive gown and burst of arch dam are obtained.
