Abstract:

The Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF), Bechtel Corp. (Bechtel), Jacobus Technology, Inc (Jacobus), and Spatial Positioning Systems,Inc. (SPSi) have formed the Consortium for Advanced Positioning Systems (CAPS). This consortium is dedicated to construction productivity improvement through the integration of new real-time position measurement technology with CADCAE. This paper provides background to the consortium and presents the issue of data-structure which is critical to reaching the ultimate potential of this integration.
