Abstract:

Knowledge processing for integrated building system planning and construction system planning poses challenging problems to integrate design and construction process efficiently. While a primary research [Yamazaki 92] focussed especially on system architecture of cooperative design and construction planning using object-models, current focus is to extend the architecture to strategic area of knowledge processing in building design and construction, such as representation of object-oriented planning models and constraint management which incorporates design, engineering and construction planning through several planning stages. The main objective of this paper is as following: 1) to describe an approach to establish Computer Integrated Construction (CIC) for the improvement of planning and management productivity at the early design stage, and 2) to propose an integrated construction planning system which provides frameworks for interactive cooperation among design, engineering, and construction planning.
