Abstract:

This report describes the Hanford Waste Vitrification project (HWVP), which will be located at the Haford Site. The Hanford Site encompasses a 560-mi2 area at which access is controlled for safety considerations. In order to ensure that HWVP will meet the regulatory requirements, a review of the criteria was performed. The primary purpose of the study was to evaluate the modifications that will be required to bring HWVP into compliance with the regulations for secondary waste which will be generated during normal operations of the facility. This paper summarizes the results and recommendations of that study.
