Abstract:

This paper describes the application of analytical methodologies developed for seismic stability analysis of dams in the western U.S. (particularly the Lower San Fernando Dam in Southern California) to a hydraulic-fill earth dam in the eastern U.S. The example presented herein illustrates the application of the analytical techniques, and at the present time the results are considered preliminary. The work described is part of a larger study to evaluate the possible need for remediation of the subject dam.
