Abstract:

The development of a U.S. Load & Resistance Factored Design (LRFD) specification and supporting documents for engineered wood construction is nearing completion. The two key components of LRFD are the factored loads and the factored resistances. This paper provides an overview of the key elements involved in the assignment of resistance values in the LRFD system developed in the U.S.
