Abstract:

Cable stayed structures, consisting of slender superstructure, stay cables and pylons are optimal systems for long span structures with regard to design an economy. The important function of the cables in this system requires that they be of high quality. Various cable types with a parallel configuration of tension elements are discussed in relation to bearing capacity, corrosion protection effects and the influences on installation procedures.
