Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Engineering in Natural Hazards Mitigation

Abstract:

Damage assessments from the past several earthquakes located on the northern, central and southern zones of the San Andreas Fault - Cape Mendocino: April 1992, 7.1; Loma Prieta: October 1989, 7.1; and Yucca Valley: June 1992, 7.4 - have shown the same types of failures to wood frame structures. This paper will focus on typical earthquake failures and the connections needed to help prevent them.
