Abstract:

A detailed seismic analysis of the Meloland Road Overcrossing is being implemented to study the response of this bridge during the 1979 Imperial Valley Earthquake. This analysis is based on a model of the bridge comprised of parameters developed from system identification of motions recorded at the bridge during the earthquake, full scale forced vibration tests of the bridge, testing of the surrounding soil medium and concrete cores extracted from the bridge's central pier, and the use of established engineering procedures and judgement to assess the plausibility of the identified model parameters.
