Abstract:

Building owners and users in seismically prone areas are becoming increasingly aware of the potential risks associated with the seismically hazardous buildings in the region specially after devastating earthquakes in Armenia and Iran. Thus, many buildings designed to the older codes are being evaluated, upgraded and retrofitted for seismic loads. This paper presents several representative seismic upgrade projects proposed or successfully completed using different schemes.
