Part of: Geotechnical Practice in Dam Rehabilitation
Abstract: In the first part of this paper, a review of the various types of geosynthetics is presented and it is indicated that all types of geosynthetics have been or can be used in dams to perform a variety of functions. Then, the various applications of geosynthetics in dam rehabilitation are described, and their design and construction are discussed. In the subsequent parts of the paper, a review is presented of dam rehabilitation involving the use of geosynthetics for drainage and filtration, erosion control, embankment improvement, and waterproofing.
