Part of: Dynamic Analysis and Design Considerations for High-Level Nuclear Waste Repositories

Abstract:

Continuum and discontinuum modeling techniques for conducting dynamic analysis of underground facilities of geologic repository are discussed. Compared with continuum analysis, the discontinuum analysis is relatively new and is most applicable to problems in which the deformation of the system is primarily a result of deformation or slip along the discontinuities, i.e. fractures.
