Abstract:

This proceedings is a collection of technical papers presented at Civil Engineering in the Oceans V (CEO V) specialty conference held at College Station, Texas on November 2-5, 1992. Initiated in 1967, this international conference is the fifth in a series sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers. With the theme State of Excellence in Offshore Civil Engineering, this proceedings is designed to be a comprehensive handbook of state-of-the-art offshore ocean engineering in the fields of hydrodynamics, offshore structures, and marine geotechnical engineering. Seven central themes formed the core of the conference: 1) Offshore ocean environment; 2) hydrodynamics; 3) structural design; 4) structural dynamics; 5) platform requalification; 6) geotechnical engineering; and 7) civil engineering in the oceans in the 21st century. Keynote speakers presented state-of-the practice papers in each of these seven areas.
