Abstract:

This paper presents an analysis for the dynamic parameters of a single pile. The analysis allows consideration of pile-soil interaction, soil natural layered behavior and floating pile boundary conditions. Results from field test data are compared with the numerical data from a theoretical solution. The results indicate that the shear wave velocity in the surface layer of soil is the most important factor on the dynamic stiffness of pile. It is shown that there exists a critical slenderness ratio for friction pile vibrating in the vertical direction and the slenderness ratio is influenced by the shear wave velocity of soil.
