Abstract:

Vibration tests were conducted on a single pile 450 mm diameter and driven to a depth of 17 m. The dynamic soil properties were also determined by conducting in-situ tests. The response of the pile was calculated using the commonly used approach of Novak (1974, 1977), Novak and El-Sharnouby (1983). The soil-pile stiffness parameters based on strain dependent values of shear modulus were used in the computations, and a comparison with the observed data was made. For the case of single piles and pile groups the available information on their observed and predicted response has also been presented.
