Abstract:

The Potable Water Wellfield Protection Program was initiated early in 1981. It examined land uses in the County, made an inventory of potential ground water pollution sources, compiled a list of potential pollutants, delineated protection zones around wells based on computer modeling of travel times, and developed a protection strategy based on enforcement power legislation for existing wellfields and land use controls to supplement the legislation for future sites. The program description is given.
