Part of: Probabilistic Mechanics and Structural and Geotechnical Reliability

Abstract:

Structural performance functions are often defined implicitly using numerical algorithms such as finite element and boundary element methods. One of the challenges in dealing with implicitly performance functions is the development of efficient and accurate probabilistic analysis algorithms for problems where the computations of the performance and its sensitivities are very time-consuming. A review of the efficient methods are recent developments are presented.
