Abstract:

A frequency domain method is discussed in order to evaluate the second order statistical response of nonlinear hysteretic structures. Both shear type systems and lumped mass frames involving several potential plastic hinges may be analysed with the presented method. A numerical correspondence between the eigenproperties of the linearized system and the inelastic deformation is established with the ultimate goal of drastically reducing the dimension of the system under investigation.
