Abstract:

The existing International Terminal at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport-KSA-is overcrowded and providing a low level of service. Planning for an expanded facility catering for KSA needs into the 21st century examined a large number of development options, from which was selected a strategy of staged development. Stage 1 of the development strategy selected has been designed and documented. The terminal buildings and aircraft movement area at an advanced stage of construction. The paper outlines the development options canvassed, the selected strategy and the Stage 1 terminal and aircraft movement area currently under construction.
