Abstract:

The Guidelines for Rehabilitation of Civil Works of Hydroelectric Plants was produced by the Task Committee of the Hydropower Committee of the Energy Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The Guidelines, for the most part the results of the experience of the authors and reviewers, and of the Task Committee as a whole, is intended to support and supplement other documents such as the Electric Power Research Institute Hydroplant Modernization Guides and published references dealing with the rehabilitation of dams. Since this book is for the practicing civil engineer who has to evaluate the condition of the civil works at existing hydroelectric projects, it explores in detail such topics as site characterization, inspection and assessment, rehabilitation and repair procedures, and maintenance manual production. Members of the hydroelectric industry should find this information helpful in their effort to extend the useful life of existing hydroelectric facilities.
