Abstract:

Convective or advective processes play a role in many models for civil engineering applications. For example in transport equations, in hydrodynamic equations or wave energy equations. In this paper, we will first describe the requirements for the civil engineering practice and subsequently introduce the principles of cyclic computation and the use of alternate operators for the advection terms. Then we will show some applications of these principles and how these principles can be incorporated in a very efficient three-dimensional model. In section 5 we will show some results on model systems applications. A method has been described for the approximation of convective processes in civil engineering applications. The robustness of this method and the accuracy both for transient and steady state solutions makes it attractive for use in computational codes that have to cover a broad range of practical problems.
