Abstract:

This paper compares the 1990 weighted average trip generation rates of military bases, shopping malls, universities, airports, and hospitals for San Antonio-Bexar County and Amarillo, Texas, with the rates published in the San Diego Traffic Generators, June 1991, report and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Trip Generation Manual, Second and Fifth Editions, 1979 and 1991, respectively. In addition, this paper presents the historical trends in trip generation rates and compares those trends reflected nationally.
