Abstract:

Several examples of the use of a wavelet transform in the analysis of transient events in mechanical systems are provided. The transform has the advantage over other transient analysis methods of providing good localization of short duration events in time. The method is also used to analyse the correspondence between computed and measured response of a tall structure during earthquake excitation.
