Abstract:

Bayesian statistics is used to update the reliability of existing composite steel girder bridges. A 60 ft. long simply supported superstructure is considered. The reliability for the ultimate flexural and shear limit states is measured in terms of the reliability index. The analysis showed that improved reliability can be obtained even with few field observations.
