Fault-Tolerant Computing Architecture for MF 88 and MP 89 Rolling Stock

by Henri Bordenave, RATP,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Applications of Advanced Technologies in Transportation Engineering

Abstract:

For several years now, the French and the foreign railway industries have witnessed the development of a new generation of on-board computer systems for rolling stock. It mainly features distributed computing on the train: the different functions processed by this computing architecture are resident on several computers geographically located along the train, and linked together via a powerful communication link : the Local Area Network (LAN). The article describes the computing architectures as implemented on board RATP's rolling stock.
