Abstract:

The CALTRANS Post Earthquake Investigation Team (PEQIT) has been in existence since 1971. It is an emergency response team which mobilizes quickly following a major earthquake to gather design related bridge damage data. The team is composed of volunteer, experienced bridge engineers. The notification to mobilize is tied to the 24-hour surveillance operation at the California Department of Water Resources.
