by Anshel J. Schiff, Stanford Univ, Stanford, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Lifeline Earthquake Engineering

Abstract:

The seismic performance of air transportation systems is reviewed. The evolution of seismic design criteria and practices for major air transportation system elements is discussed. The elements considered include the air route traffic control system, airport control towers, runways, and airport facilities. Suggestions are made for improving seismic performance of air transportation systems.
