Abstract:

Many older dams are in need of rehabilitation as a result of aging, deterioration, and more stringent safety standards. A primary concern is spillway and stability inadequacies resulting from more stringent standards and increases in the estimation of design flood levels. While current technology can provide solutions to these issues, it must be applied appropriately for each project so that overall project balance is maintained and limited resources are utilized efficiently.
