Three-Dimensional Modeling of Transport of Fine Sediments and Contaminants in Lakes and Estuariesby Y. Peter Sheng, Univ of Florida, Gainesville, United States,
Abstract: The transport of fine sediments and contaminants due to currents and wind waves in estuaries and lakes have been studied by means of field experiment, laboratory experiment and a comprehensive three-dimensional numerical model of hydrodynamics and sediment and nutrient transport. This paper emphasizes the development of a comprehensive hydrodynamics and sediment transport model, EHSM3D, and its linkage with a contaminant transport model. Simulation of long-term event of sediment and nutrient transport in a large shallow lake, Lake Okeechobee, will be presented.
