Abstract:

In the first part of the paper, the design, the working principle and the field installation of floating evapotranspirometer are described with the data logging system which delivers continuous measurements of actual evapotranspiration. Moreover, the results on wheat and soybean in different water conditions are given. Finally, direct data are compared with evapotranspiration measurements provided indirectly by the energy balance (Bowen ratio method). In the Mediterranean region a good agreement has been found between the direct and indirect method for determining evapotranspiration.
